From his celebrated coversations with world figures to his work to inspire the next generation, Tavis Smiley - broadcaster, author, publisher, advocate, and philanthropist - has emerged as an outstanding voice for change. Smiley is currently the host of the late-night television talk show Tavis Smiley on PBS.  He is the author of 29 books including What I Know for Sure: My Story of Growing Up in America, a New York Times bestselling memoir, and My Journey with Maya, a remarkable story filled with memories of his 28-year friendship with Maya Angelou.
 
The Notations Series is presented by the Lehigh University Creative Writing Program, Visiting Lecturers Committee and Zoellner Arts Center with support from an Anonymous Donor.
