An American writer, commentator, activist and educator, Giovanni is one of the world's most well-known poets.  Her work covers topics ranging from race and social issues to children's literature.  Since 1987 she has been on the faculty at Virginia Tech, where she is a University Distinguished Professor. Supported by the Ann Neitzel Endowment Fund for Poetry and Creative Writing, Friends of Lehigh Univeristy Libraries, and Africana Studies at Lehigh University.
 
The Notations Series is presented by the Lehigh University Creative Writing Program, Visiting Lecturers Committee and Zoellner Arts Center with support from an Anonymous Donor.
