One consequence of the long histories of patriarchy, white supremacy, enslavement and colonialism is that Black female bodies have been a site of fetishism and sexual fantasy. With a focus on the Olivia Pope character in the television series, Scandal, Professor El-Burki combines investigate fetishism, the male gaze, and Othering in the Era of Colorblindness.
