Hailing from South Central, Los Angeles, Brenda Martinez has always applied her education in her community activism. She is driven by her motivation to inspire and educate people of color on the Afro-Latino history and connection. She is heavily involved on campus and at home in South Central, aligning herself with other leaders and organizations who continue to the fight against the war on poor people of color. Martinez will continue her academic career in a doctorate program upon graduating Lehigh University.  She aspires to be a professor as well as a social commentator, while continuing to work with inner city communities.
